How do I meet people and make friends when I first arrive?

You’ll touch down already knowing a few names. Once you join your city’s WhatsApp group, you’ll be chatting, planning hangouts, and sharing tips with students who are also about to land. It’s the easiest “first connection” you’ll ever make abroad.

Can I join my city’s WhatsApp group before I move?

Of course. You’re literally one click away from joining. Whether you’re still packing or already at the airport, hop in early and start chatting with people who’ll be living, studying, and exploring the same city as you.

What kind of help can I get from Socials?

Picture a digital student lounge where everyone’s sharing housing tips, job finds, and the next big event. You can ask anything, or just see what’s happening. Basically, it’s the group chat your university wishes it had.

Are there any events when I move in?

We partnered with The Student Life and City Games to host both online and in-person events, from welcome festivals and virtual meetups to big city-wide parties and social games. Check your WhatsApp group for updates on what’s next in your city.

Is there a cost to join?

Yes… the price of saying hi in the chat. Everything’s free, you just need Wi-Fi and a bit of curiosity.

What if I need help fast, like finding accommodation
or dealing with something urgent?

Post in the WhatsApp group, someone’s always online. And if we’ve got something useful in the backpack we’ll share it right away.

What if I’m shy or not great at meeting new people?

Totally normal. Most people in the groups felt the same way before joining. Start with a simple “hey,” react to a message, or join a small event, it gets easier fast. You don’t need to be the loudest person to fit in ;)

Can I find tips about housing, food, or getting around the city?

Yep, that’s half the chat on most days. Students share apartment listings, cheap eats, and secret transport hacks like it’s an underground info network. It’s basically the local guide you didn’t know you needed.

Can I help out or become a city host myself?

If you’ve got energy and ideas, yes! Every semester we look for students who want to help run events or welcome newcomers. You’ll get experience, friends, and probably a few too many inside jokes.
